If you are going to be visiting Alert Bay during your walk, you can read about Corrine Hunt, the designer of the 2010 Vancouver Olympic medals.  She was born on Alert Bay and is a member of the Raven Gwa’wina clan from Ts’akis, a Komoyue village on Vancouver Island.  Her grandmother gave her name, “killer whale scratching her back on the beach.”  She also designs many pieces of artwork and jewelry.
